Who is Alex Rose, and what is her face doing on the AMAZONAS Magazine YouTube Channel? Well, you’re about to find out.
An aquarist since 5-years old, and lover of all things water, Alex Rose obtained a bachelor’s degree in biology with a minor in music, and a master’s degree in aquatic biology. She spent 10 years as a volunteer diver at the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago, IL. Alex is perhaps best known in the marine aquarium hobby for her time spent working for aquarium fish food manufacturer Rod’s Food.
For the past 7 years, she has been Science Editor for the quarterly publication Ocean Geographic, produced by the Ocean Geographic Society, based in Australia. An avid diver, she has participated in expeditions to the Arctic, the Galapagos, Guadalupe Island (yes, she dives with Great White Sharks), and organizes expeditions to locations closer to the US, such as La Paz in Baja, Mexico!
In 2017, Alex founded the ocean conservation corporation Blue Ring, which donates 71% of its profits to select conservation organizations each year. Why 71%? Watch the interview to find out!
Alex Rose joined the AMAZONAS Magazine team in April 2021. In addition to a wide range of behind-the-scenes roles that she will play, Alex will lead the development of the AMAZONAS Magazine YouTube Channel. This will include a wide range of content related to the freshwater aquarium hobby, including Alex hosting interviews and live events with AMAZONAS contributors, authors, partners, and advertisers.
