Another great article from Amazonas Magazine about wild caught aquarium fish. Many fishkeepers shun species taken from the wild but they do provide a valuable livelihood for many people who also then protect their local environment.

We couldn’t have put it better ourselves than the last paragraph of this article.

“The significance of the modest but consistent income from a skilled trade like aquarium fishing can be easy to underestimate from the perspective of a developed, Western country—but sustainable livelihoods for the millions of people living along the edge of the forest across the Amazon basin are becoming an increasingly important issue in conserving and protecting this incredible place.”
